There are a number of different distribution channels available on the Internet which could be utilisied efficiently to the benefits of your website. We have watched and witnessed the growth of the Internet over the recent years and while everyone knows the traditional online distribution channels such as newsletters, and electronic press releases, it is time to have a look at some unconventional channels of distribution on the web.

Web 2.0 Expo 2007

Web 2.0 ExpoWeb 2.0 Expo 2007 is on for 4 days at Moscone West, San Francisco from April 15 to 18. It is an event which brings Web 2.0 to life and to your business and is intended for designers, developers, entrepreneurs, operations managers, project managers, business strategists and marketers. According to the official website, Web 2.0 Expo is:

  • An expo connecting the web ecosystem
  • In-depth workshops to get you up to speed
  • A blog by program participants
  • An event open to all
  • A chance to hear from industry leaders
  • An event that turns the audience into participants
  • A companion event to the Web 2.0 Summit
  • Based on concept defined by Tim O’Reilly

The schedule is pretty dense and impressive; there are a lot of interesting stuff and as they put it, filled with exhibitors showcasing all things Web 2.0 — tools, technologies, services, infrastructures, and more!

Day One - 15 April
The topics covered on the first day of the expo are: social applications (think YouTube, Flickr, del.icio.us), web 2.0 tools and technique (think blogging, podcasting, vlogging), website performance, application development process, what web 2.0 is in the context of online products, starting up web 2.0 business, application architectures for web 2.0, SEO, SEM and making your website visible to search engines, Ruby on Rails and Web 2.0 as a UI Paradigm.

Day Two - 16 April
The topics covered on day two basically fall into 6 sections: users (as in user generated content), moving towards web 2.0, building web 2.0, web 2.0 applications and services, web 2.0 design, and the future of web 2.0.

Day Three - 17 April
Day three is much more business-oriented compared to day one and day two when a lot of technical details were involved. Topics such as Web 2.0 for Small Business, or Running Fast & Light at Starbucks with a Browser and Some Java, Social Networking Winners & Losers: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, Entrepreneurship and the Web as a Platform, Using Widget Syndication for Online Marketing and Measurement, Mission Possible: A Web 2.0 Company with a Revenue Model and Ensuring Mass Market Success for New Services are covered on day three.

Day Four - 18 April
Day four is the last day of the Web 2.0 Expo, and the topics presented are geared towards enterprises. Topics such as monetizing, marketing, building web applications for government and non-profit (big) organisations, dos and don’ts, understanding customer behaviors are covered in the context of web 2.0.

A conversation I had with a friend this afternoon. Thought it was cute.

A friend: I heard you can download books on the Internet. Is it true?
