PureBlogging – The goods and the bads

PureBloggingPureBlogging is a fairly new blog in town which focuses on blog news, tips and tutorials, monetization from your blog and the likes. Therefore, you can say it shares some common objectives with ProBlogger which is a very popular blog on making money online with 35,000 to 50,000 unique visitors a day.

PureBlogging is having a blog contest to win an 8GB Apple iPod nano, so I thought I would try my luck.

What I like about PureBlogging
- Adsense placements: Adsense ads on the site are placed in a manner which does not clutter or interfere with the rest of the site, but blend in well with the layout.
- Top Commenters (section): Gives users an incentive to comment more.
- Top Posts (page): This page groups together all the most popular posts in different categories; which makes it easy for users and also for search engines.
- Links (page): This page is not a typical blogroll page, rather, the links on the page are harvested from the content on the site. Uses Alex King’s Link Harvest plugin for WordPress.
- Content: There are quite a few posts on the site which gives you something back (whether it is some issue to think about, some website to visit, or some idea for you to implement on your own site) after reading them.

What I don’t like about PureBlogging
- Design: It is simple and clean enough but it doesn’t stand out from the rest of the blogs out there.
- Logo: The logo is not very appealing and it looks like it was done in a rush. A logo gives users a first impression about the website, so it is a good idea to invest some time and money on getting a logo right.
- ContentLink Ad: They are annoying and I haven’t found a way to disable them.
- Online Now (page): Pointless page.
