10 tips I have learned from WDS2007 – Day 1
The keywords from Day 1 are: web 2.0, standards, social media, web apps, mash-ups, APIs, web services, mobile, users
- Social systems are built to serve people’s selfishness
- No matter how boring your startup website may be, as long as there is a need for it, people will use it
- Mobile 2.0 is the next big thing and mobile web applications are the future
- Build it quickly, market it, release it and if not successful, abandon it
- Give “the control” back to users
- Content leverage: Let anyone/everyone build cool stuff using your data (Web Services and APIs)
- iPhone uses screen media type for stylesheet (rather than handheld)
- Standards. Standards. Standards
- Web 2.0 is evolution, not revolution
- Improve user experience through customisation
