What is CTR in google adsense?

I was asked the following question this morning by an adsense publisher and I thought some of you might also find it useful so I am sharing it here.

Question: What's CTR and how do I read it?

CTR stands for clickthrough rate, and in the simplest form, it is the number of clicks an ad receives divided by the number of times the ad, ad unit, or page is viewed. In other words, it is the percentage of how many clicks an ad received (based on how many views it received).

Therefore, the higher the CTR is, the better the performance is (ie: a larger number of clicks an ad/ad unit receives).

  22. Happy to get approved with my adsense but my ctr is so low maybe because some ads are not related to my site
